1. Don't Replace Your Sofa Replace It, Refresh It!

70cff4a204edeaea28ff0e9138b855fb.jpgIt's not required to spend thousands of dollars on the sofa. You can change it's appearance. First, grab the clean towel, and dampen it until it is damp. No dripping. Clean the sofa's surface using the hand towel that is damp. You'll be surprised by how much dust and fibers come off. After that, get your steamer for hands which you can buy at large box stores for as little as $20. Steam the sofa. Steam can help eliminate wrinkles and also kill bugs as well as bacteria. Additionally, it will make the fabric appear fresher.

After cleaning, you can begin the fun part - picking new throw pillows. They're incredibly affordable which is fantastic as they can be replaced frequently to keep your sofa looking new. Pick a new throw with your new throw pillows. You can fold the throw into an elegant rectangle and drape it over an arm to create a layered chic appearance. Throws or pillows are a great way to add color or a texture to a sofa or chair. They're also relatively inexpensive and can be found them at any of the home furnishings shops. I love to swap mine each season, it helps keep my home looking contemporary and fresh.

Wall painting can be an easy and effective method to change the appearance of a room. A single feature wall or painting with darker hues can make a space appear even more compact. We've likely every experienced a dark painting mess, or know someone who did. Sure, I've been there!

My trick for getting it just right is to cover the walls with three quarters, or at least half its height. This trick makes the ceiling appear taller, and the room appears larger. Also, you'll save money by applying less paint. This technique lets you experiment with richer and darker hues, then use lighter hues on the ceiling. It makes your room appear bright and airy. Take a look at the bedroom below. I used dark green to create a cozy and warm feel. The green is lush, yet the room feels spacious and airy, because I painted it at half-height. You can see the full effect of this in my before and after Reel of the room.

3. Renters Wood Paneling Cheat

Boo! People are increasingly turning to organic minimalism, and are embracing a wood-paneled look to achieve the upscale appearance. A recent customer of mine was a tenant who could not paint, and even when they could create a wood-paneled wall it would have been way beyond their budget. However, I was able to find an effective way to save money! I discovered a peel-and stick wallpaper that was a pattern that had the look of wood panels printed on it. It was awe-inspiring when I placed this on the bed of my client. Instantly, it added texture and warmth to the room. Vertical lines made ceilings look like they were twice as high. Check out my IG Reel from the spacehere. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is easy to install; it took about three hours to put up and cost a couple of hundred dollars. You can easily remove the wallpaper off the walls in the event that you want to move it, or if you're looking to change the appearance. This is why it's important to test your walls regularly and follow the directions of the manufacturer.

4. Be creative with your lighting.

Lighting can have a huge impact on the appearance and the feel of a room. But, it's often neglected. You can use this guide to ensure that your lighting is in order. At least three lights need to be on in any space. Normaly, they are:

Ceiling lights or overhead lamps.

Eye level lighting could be floor lamps or sconces.

Ambience lighting can be provided via tables lamps, lanterns or lighting strips.

Lighting is now less expensive and is easier than ever before to incorporate into any space. If you have overhead lighting as most homes do have ceiling lights. An excellent way to include illumination for the eye is by using wall sconces. These fixtures add architectural dimension to an area and instantly makes it appear more lively and elevated. You might be concerned about wall sconces being costly and messy with the installation of new wiring, and a phone call to an electrician needed and so on. Well don't stress! Lots of batteries lightbulbs (LED bulbs that are screwed into sconces, but are powered by a rechargeable battery) are now available. You can purchase an electrically wired wall sconce. Take the wires off and connect it to the wall. Attach a battery-operated remote light bulb into the sconce to create an attractive sconce, but without the need to open your walls. The same idea is a good idea for table lamps if you do not have an outlet nearby or you wish to put it on the bookcase, for example. Table lamps is able to be left without plugs. Simply put in the battery-powered light bulb and you'll have a fresh light source.
